Treasurer - Dee Hartley/Lakosky
Night Nursing Supervisor/Infection Control Consultant
P: 612-721-0654

Dee grew up on a farm in the middle of Iowa then attended the University of Colorado and graduated with a BS in Nursing. After working in nursing ten years she attended the Minneapolis School of Anesthesia. Dee worked 17 years as a Certified Registered CRNA) Nurse Anesthetist at the VA Hospital in Minneapolis---the last 8 years she was Director on the Veterans Administration School of Nurse Anesthesia. During that time Dee was granted a MA degree from the College of St. Thomas in Curriculum, Instruction and Evaluation in Allied Health and a MS degree from the College of St. Francis in Healthcare Administration. Dee also was on the Minnesota Association of Nurse Anesthetists (MANA) Board (Secretary, Treasurer, chairperson of Governmental Relations and member of several of the other Committees) for 7 years and finished the duration as President of MANA in 1989.

Sept. of 1989 Dee and a friend lived on a sailboat for a year and a half, traveling the inland waterways to the Chesapeake Bay and back to Tampa, FL.

In 1991 Dee went back to the family farms and traveled the Midwest helping put on programs for farmers to help them get off the chemicals and into organic farming. Dee learned how our depleted soils were affecting the animal and human health. In 1997 she coordinated that with working in a small rural hospital wearing 6 different hats--one being Infection Control. In 2000 Dee returned to Minneapolis and worked at the Minnesota Veterans Home where she developed and coordinated their Infection Control program. Currently Dee works part time as Nursing Supervisor on all shifts when she is needed.

In 1993 Dee was nominated for Treasurer of APIC-MN and in 1995 re-elected for Treasurer for two more years. She has attended APIC and MN APIC Chapter and State meetings since 1997 and National APIC meetings since 2000.
